Re: Engine Ticking..?

I don't know. Maybe I should just bite the bullet and take it to a shop to get it diagnosed.

Re: Engine Ticking..?

Are you throwing any codes? It does sound like it is on the passenger side. Sounds like cylinder #4. Have you checked to make sure you didnt blow out a plug?

It's throwing zero codes, from what I can see. I'll have to hook my tuner up and make sure. I checked all the sparkplugs and they were all seated properly still.

Okay, check your vac hoses. They wont show anything. Check for holes in it, it sounds like your getting raw air. Also check for pin size holes in the intake manifold. Check all your plugs for oil in them to cause you to miss. That would be just a valve cover gasket. You kinda have to take a day to trouble shoot everything

Update! Found what the problem is, I'm sure. I had overlooked the third cylinder in the passenger side and it's spark plug had blown out. Gonna get it tapped tomorrow, I think. Should fix things, Eh?

Re: Engine Ticking..?

Sounds like you blew an exhaust or EGR valve gasket.
Put a little piece of white rag on a stick or rod of some type and hold it around the exhaust manifold/headers. When you see it fluttering there's your leak.

Knew it was a spark plug as soon as I read page one. This happened to me. Let some change my plugs in Afghanistan. Came home in May. Have thrown all 4 driver side plugs bc the ****** cross threaded them. Towing her to NC in the morning to get a new head

Re: Engine Ticking..?

If I take the car to a shop to re-tap the threads for me.. How much should it cost?

I believe its like 3 to 5 hundred. You should be able to get the kit for like $200 and do it yourself. Plus it will save you money when another one blows out.

Dang. That seems steep for what seems like a simple job. Why does it cost so much?

Re: Engine Ticking..?

$373.65 later the blown spark plug is fixed! The engine runs quiet as ever and exhaust sounds even more amazing than I remember! Haha... So on the way home with the windows down, I discovered my driver's side window wouldn't go back up.. Checked the fuse, it was fine, checked the motor.. It was seized. -.- $261.13 later, a shop replaced it for me. I couldn't let my car sit for days while the part comes in to do it myself since the window was down and Baton Rouge isn't the best place. :/
