Rear end advice

I wasn't sure how much the stock rear end could handle on an 02 gt. Some people tell me it's good for high hp up to like 700 rwhp but others tell me it can't handle much. I just wanted To hear of some people stories and hp ratings on theirs. My plan is to do 717 engine hp. Mm&ff did a article where it ended up with that much and I'm doing exactly that but they never did anything but motor so I wasn't sure. ADVICE PLEASE

Re: Rear end advice

Mine snapped with i put my nittos on and hooked at the track with only 320hp, but thats not common for them to snap at that low of a horsepower. Just shows anything could happen.

Yea that's what I thought. This idiot around here told me that he heard of a 800hp cobra that had a rear end swap with a gt. Lol he was like I wouldn't waste my money. I was just double checking. That's what I thought. Lol I wouldn't expect a stock car with 260 hp to have any part able to handle that much.

Swapping the rear to go from IRS to Solid Axle is common but 99% of the folks who do that build up that solids internals before putting it in.
