What is wrong with having exhaust leaks?

gives off unneeded heat in places not suppose to be and can get into the cabin of the car which is not good to be breathing

And it sounds terrible. And like Sally noted, exhaust fumes getting into the cab can really cause problems for your health. Especially if in traffic for long periods of time.
