Re: Best Way To Get 500 Horses For $4,000

buy a stroker engine from DSS Racing for about $3500 and throw a 125 shot of NO2 ON IT
500 horse is tough to reach on a budget a good strong 331 or 347 stroker with a good set of heads and cam will get you in the 400 - 425 range and still be street able ,anything higher than that on just motor will be high compression ( wont run for crap on pump gas ) and very big head and cam , not good on the street ......

I have a friend that has an 04 Gt and he makes 731 at the rear wheel off his stock block but he residents his heads, cams, plus he has a whipple supercharger but he also dropped like $9,000 on his engine...plus my engine only has 17,000 on it so I would like to use it

Forced induction is really the only way to get those numbers off that amount of money

Yea really that Is the only way. Nitrous will give you instant cheap power but its a different story when your not on nitrous. Mm&ff did a 4.6 2v and put a set of 5.0 heads on it. Theres only one company that makes them and Im not sure who it is but they ended up forging the internals, heads, cams and before their nitrous it made about 500 and after over 600 but that's way more then 4k

I'd only run nitrous if your looking at strip power and thats it. If your looking at constant power I wouldn't get it.

Re: Best Way To Get 500 Horses For $4,000

Why would u put 5.0 heads on a 4.6?! highly doubt they would fit #1 and #2 4.6 already have a good market for performance head so why would they do that?

They aren't just a standard 302 head. They are designed for the 4.6. And it was in mm&ff, So the kit does exist.

---------- Post added at 03:22 AM ---------- Previous post was at 03:15 AM ----------

I'm not exactly sure who make them cause I have an issue that they talk about that project in terms of doing more to the 2v motor as far as forced induction. They had 2 4.6 2v motor and one was cammed, new heads, upgraded intake and it made 399 engine hp. The other motor had the 5.0 heads, cammed and was built and made 500 engine. Then they slapped a kb on the 399 hp motor and forged the internals and it made over 700 with 20 psi

So from my understanding, those heads flow better then anything in the 2v 4.6 market?

I'm guessing so. I don't know the complete details on them nor could i find them online but that's a blind search not knowing what I was looking for. Just looking at it, it was a dedicated 5.0 stroker 2v, with the 5.0 heads, elevated cam lobes (didn't say specifically what brand or duration), and trick flow intake. I don't know if it's just a company that sells milled heads or what but they don't go into any more depth then the industries only 5.0L heads.

Re: Best Way To Get 500 Horses For $4,000

Im sorry but you are wrong there is no logical explaination why anyone would put 5.0 heads on a 4.6! the 4.6 is a SOHC the 5.0 was a pushrod motor, so it aint gonna work!

Naw American Muscle has it on there website and so does Rpm Out let its the 5.0 head built for the 4.6 block...all the reviews say it has the best compression out of all the heads and produces the most power

500 at the flywheel or 500 at the rear wheels? If 500 at the flywheel a supercharger/turbo setup will do it but it will cost more than 4k unless its used... and even then probably more than 4k and you will be at the limit of that car without a built motor

if 500 at the rear wheels, you wont get there with out a power adder/built motor

Lol I was gonna say that's not heads but still not a bad deal. It's not just a bored 4.6 because you can't bored a 4.6 with stock stroke to a 5.0 and have a structurally sound block. The materials just aren't there

Re: Best Way To Get 500 Horses For $4,000

If only that were true some people get real mad. The only problem with the 5.0 block is that you will have to also have to buy pistons. So with the block, pistons, heads, cam and the cost of the miscellaneous parts odds are you will be over $4,000

That block reuses everything but your pistons but performance wise you will need all that stuff to get anywhere

I've looked at the rating of an '01 Pi motor going in my '98 mustang Gt. 500hp on stock internals is Max but I would not recommend to push it that far. As of now with the add on I have. I'm looking at 450-475 HP. With torque in 400-480 range . That is no super charger or no Turbo. Its all motor

How do you plan on getting those numbers NA?? With the exception of nitrous I do believe that is out of reach. With full bolt ons, heads, and cams and a tune you are lookin at like 355 at the wheels at the very max from what I've seen
