96 GT Smokin...

Hey guys... I know this has likely been answered but u guys know how hard it can be to find exactly what your looking for on the forums.

Ive got a 96 GT engine is all stock save a cheepo AM CAI, bbk OR H pipe, flowmaster (original 30s) catback exhaust, and a generic Superchips performance tune. (also its lowered and *** end is stiffened up nice... someday ill throw a new 5.0 in it when someone perfects the swap so i dont have any suprises haha)

The exhaust work is all new and I havent (cant with superchips tuner) shut off the o2 sensors... It was fine for a few days after the exhaust work and its just started to put out black smoke under low rpm launches and rev match downshifts... under normal/ full throttle its fine (actually you could say i only get some smoke when the clutch is in and im on the throttle in some way...) The plugs/wires were done recently but the engine is coming up on its 435k km birthday but she still pulls as hard as the day I got her. She drinks only 91 shell and lubes up with castrol full synthetic. Its lost about 1/2 quart between oil changes and that hasnt changed much since... mayb up to 3/4 quart now.

Possibilities i came up with...
Shes throwing an O-ring in slow motion (problem has been going on for over 10k km now... i know bad me...) -The smoke does seem very black rather than blue... which makes me think gas more than oil...
She is in limp mode and is running super rich. (custom tune from AM work?)
Injectors could be running full tilt?

I would like to get her through the winter (yeah daily driver canadian winter... lowered... i know... but shes fun!) on this engine for sure or at least untill i can swap a PI or cobra engine in.

Re: 96 GT Smokin...

sounds like it could be bad rings, or something is telling your car it needs more fuel then air so its putting more fuel into the combustion chamber when it really doesnt need it and its giving you a richer mixture.

also, check the spark plugs and see what they look like
