Smoking tail lights

Hey guys i have been wanting to do my tail lights, i have seen the film, the spray tint, covers and the replacement tail lights that are smoked. I want to try the covers but they are held on by like sticky tape. Has anyone tried these before? And is it worth the extra $$$ to get the replacment taillights

Re: Smoking tail lights

i personally wouldn't go with the covers most of them look boxy and they are held on exactly by just that sticky tape so when your lights light up you will see the darkness of the sticky tpe between the covers and the lights plus dirt can get behind the covers and you can be like me and snap the little tabs off the light covers because the ones i had were kind of cheap. I would get something that is already dark or make your own ie tint them with vinyls or paint them or order them online. A lot of companies make presmoked oem lights and it saves you the trouble of having to do it

I personally have the blackout taillight covers from AM. I like them alot, but they do make the rear look rounded. As for the tape that comes with it, its pretty tacky, i ended up peeling it off, and sticking velcro on and it worked like a charm. Cant really see it through when the break light is on either. Plus i havent gotten pulled over for them, and im not planning on it haha. I've seen the covers on a few mustangs around here that i am 90% sure were covers that conformed to the light. Those looked real nice. But for the money, the covers work nicely for me. Now looking at smoked replacement headlights.

I was going to ask if you lived in FL but I see Arkansas. FHP can be pretty ruthless.

They said that if an old lady was driving and rear ended me then I'd realize they were dumb said one cop lol

They were super translucent and if the lady couldn't see them then maybe she shouldn't be driving! Haha

Mostly they say they are illegal and write me a $116 ticket each time ... That got expensive lol

Re: Smoking tail lights

The covers are crap...look like crap, adhere like crap, I've heard of them flying off on the highway

I'd get the Raxiom smoked tails from AM...nice amount of tint and it you get some heat from the cops you can swap your stockers back on.

Yah the nice thing about the Raxiom replacements is that they have the reverse light clearly visible, which is one of the major complaints with tinting lights.

I used film about 4 months ago and have since had no problems with peeling or bubbles.

Re: Smoking tail lights

I had a 2002 Mustang GT yellow and I personally like the tint way better, btw mine never bubbled or anything and I had the car for a couple of years I was thinking about doing the same to my 04 GT but im probably not going to do it because I do live in Florida and yes FHP is prettt strict when it comes to that. I would deffly spend a few extra bucks and do it right rather than try to save money.
