Need help 03 cobra

M looking at an 03 cobra convertible black with black top. Its a 10th anniversary. He has 18inch fr500s on it now. But has the anniversary cobra wheels at home. Would it be better to put the anniversary wheels on or keep the fr500s? And ive never seen the anniversary cobra wheels before till i looked it up on google.

Dealers choice. The fr500s may give better traction if they're wider. I'd keep both and run a street tire on one set and drag radials on the other.

Re: Need help 03 cobra

its all about looks, FR500s are 18s, 10th anniv are just 17s.

did you read the terminator FAQ, do so before purchasing

Re: Need help 03 cobra

It's a tough call between the two. I like the FR's, but the 10th anni's are the better of the two stock options on the car. I would try to get it with both sets of rims and then sell the ones you don't want to use to re-coup some of your money.

I think that the fr500 rims make the car look almost like a mitsubishi with all of them spokes. I have an 02 gt and bought cobra rims and they look great...i would go with the cobra rims.

Re: Need help 03 cobra

I'd be partial to keeping a set of 10th anniv around for use later...I love my FR500's, but a good set of anniv rims are hard to find now.

Walk away...something is seriously wrong with the car for that price. PM me a link if you don't mind and I'll take a look for any major issues from pictures.

Well i work with the guy. The drivetrain is perfect shifts really good and feels powerful. He never took care of it. He has money and didnt care about the car.
The problems are.
He bought lowering springs and then cut them so the car was super low. He messed up the strut towers. So i will need new springs all around new shock and new struts. A new convertible top cuz someone cut it a little bit. But it doesnt leak. A new front bumper cuz he would scrape speed bumps. New front rotors cuz they are starting to scrack. New brakes. The black leather interior is perfect and it has the red in the seats.
It has a full bassani exhaust and new supercharger pulley.

If that seriously all that's the issue then it's a steal. Springs aren't more then 300 for a really good set and shocks and struts will run about 500 but 7k plus another 800-1000 for upkeep and repair your still sittin WAY under the value of the car. The front end honestly wouldn't NEED fixed right away but something that would drive me nut but for the price I wouldn't pass. FYI I just bought a 02 gt with 70k on it for 9 so you'd be gettin a hell of a deal especially for the anniversary edition

Re: Need help 03 cobra

you sure its a real cobra? 7k is about HALF the price a BAD condition cobra SHOULD bring at its lowest... I would walk... run the vin number as well... has it been wrecked, salvaged etc? ... it sounds like a disaster waiting to happen if you buy it.

I agree. If you do all this and turns out to be the real deal without massive problems or a salvaged car then I'd grab on and don't let go. Kbb value on one with 70k is still 15,400 bottom end.

Well its a clear title. It has everything that a 10th anniversary cobra has. It also needs a full paint job. Its a real cobra ran the vin. The suspension is bad. Main thing i need to replace.

If you're willing to take the time to part it out..you'll make more money.

6k for engine/trans
800 for IRS
1k for seats
then part the rest of the car...

Or...buy it for 7k, fix what's wrong, and drive around in a steal of a car.
