I have a 1997 Mustang
GT. It used to be an automatic, but as of 2 weeks ago, I switched it over to a manual. I had a certified mechanic do all the work for me. He did a good job I think.
The problem I'm having is, well 2 things acctually. First, as soon as I turn the car on, I can hear a rattling sound coming from the tranny. Could this possibly be the brand new Clutch and Flywheel breaking in? or is it another problem?
Another, and more annoying problem, is that when i go into gear, it sometimes sounds like the gears are grinding. This just recently started happening tonight and I havent drove it since i heard it the first time. It happens when i first go into gear and start moving. The tranny will make a loud noise, sort of like a buzzing noise when you grind your gears.
Could this be a serious problem or will it all work itself out eventually?
Please let me know. I got the tranny and a bunch of other parts from some guy on ebay, and there is a possibility i could return this tranny in exchange for another one. But I dont want to be without my baby if it will all work itself out!
