Finally in the 12's

This last Saturday I finally ran a 12.69 @ 108.9mph. I never imagined how much time work and money it takes to get a 99-04 Stang in the 12's. Should have bought a Terminator to start! But anyway a battery relocation with a Snow Stage 2 meth kit to be installed this Saturday, going to run mid October hoping to get 12.3's @ 110. Does this seen like a realistic goal or am I setting my goals to high?

Re: Finally in the 12's

Don't think the stock engine can take much more boost. It sucks starting with 260 hp compared to new cars! But at least I beat a new Camaro!

Re: Finally in the 12's

I could do heads and cams but I think the bottom end can only take around 420rwhp. I'll have to do everything to be safe.

Find a good 4v out of a wrecked cobra and start on that.

Im running almost the exact same setup making 440 rwhp. Im using a 2.95 pulley and its hiting around 13-14 psi and its safe. Boost it a little more and you will be happy. Not sure if you have it or not but you will need a boost a pump for sure

Re: Finally in the 12's

What times and speed are you getting at the track? Before my power pipe I made 336 rwhp so I may be in the 350 rwhp range now? I'll post my numbers after I get it tuned for meth. I don't have a boost a pump yet.

Do you have any belt slipping problems with a smaller pulley?

I havent taken it to the track lately. I would guess somewhere in 11s if i can get some traction. No belt slipping issues. Vortechs dont really have many problems with that. The power pipe really does make some difference and you will really need a boost a pump and a good 255 pump. Walbro finally came out with one for our returnless fuel system. Not cheap but im happy with it

2001 GT 5sp
Kenne bell 2.1 9 psi intercooled
Kooks 1 5/8" LT's
Kooks catless X
SLP LM 1's
3.27 gears Spec stage 2 clutch with steel flywheel
Street tires 285's in the rear
406 whp/446 wtq
92 degrees outside
12.54 @ 110 and 1.87 60ft Lund tuned

Not much further ahead to get a cobra IMO. I paid 8750 for my car with 49K. A termi probably would have costed me 13 to 15 grand and stock it won't run what I did with mine and I like my solid axle for the strip.

It would be nice to have the fuel system though of the cobra. I am maxxed out at 406whp with Boost a pump and stock pump
