Well I. The video I have 295/35/18s.

Yea that's just about the same as I have right now, just a tiny bit wider and taller. I'd love to see another vid with your current set up.

One thing I'd like to point out here that might make this video a little deceptive. Cole has a 2002 GT. From 02-04 ALL 5 spd Mustangs got the T-3650 with a .62 overdrive vs the .68 overdrive in any other 5 spd. The .62 5th in the 02-04 3650s is the same overdrive as the 6th gear in the Terminator.

So for those of you that have the 02-04 3650 or have swapped to one or a T-56 that will be mostly accurate give or take since the stock tach is not exactly dead on. For those of you with a .68 overdrive which was every T-5, all T-45s, early run 3650s and 05-10 3650s, you have a .68 final drive too so tack on about 200-250 RPM @70mph.

With that said, don't fear the gear. If you are a NA 2V and want to accelerate quickly at LEAST 3.73s are required. I kind of wish I had 4.10s currently but the car is getting a IRS swap anyway so it won't matter in a few months what is in there now.

A GREAT site for calculating RPM is here. Go to the bottom, stock tire size is 25.6 and I just listed what the final drive ratios are above. If you have a 4R70W your final drive is .70. Going to a 27" tall tire and if you need a new trans going to the 3650 with the .62 overdrive are both good ideas IMO. Makes for a very nice highway cruiser even with 4.30s in there.

Anyone want to sell me their tranny? I want 4.10s but would rather have the .62 than my .68

Wait......... My car was made in October 2001 so i'm sure it had the original TR3650, but around 20k miles into its life the transmission was replaced under warranty, that was about a year after it was built (Late 2002 or early 2003, don't have the carfax available right now). Do you guys think I have the one with the .62 5th gear? I have no ****ing idea LOL

It makes sense that I would... But I cruise at 70 around 2k rpm, all the calculations I do say I have a .67.

I guess I'll have to pay close attention when i go for a 100 mile drive back home on Friday....

What shifter did you put in? The TR- 3650 shifter or the T45 shifter?

Its a TR3650 for sure... But look up a few posts at Scotty's post. They changed the 5th gear ratio in 2002 to a .62 rather than the .67 (or .68 i forgot) that it was in 2001.... Its no doubt the TR3650, i'm just trying to figure out what my real 5th gear ratio is.

In 9/2001 they went to the .62 ratio. If you can see the trans tag which is attached to one of the bolts securing the rear extension housing to the main case you can tell EXACTLY when it was made.

Click me gently

^That will take you to a PDF that will give you all the decoding joyful bliss you want. Note that it wont' be 100% if you have a rebuilt unit someone could have mix/matched gears but if the trans is original it should hold up.

And here is a year to year breakdizzle:

Clickest thou here

As far as buying a used 3650... I would not buy one that I could not test drive in the car before I bought one because of the design flaws that did not get fixed until the late runs. Honestly buying a used trans is kind of hit or miss in general. The used T-56 I want to buy locally is still in the guy's car and I'm going to make sure its good to bang gears at 6500 before I buy it.

Would going from stock to 4.10 be worth the expense for a heavier New Edge Mustang, like an automatic convertible? I'm thinking about getting this done in a few months, but I'm wondering if it would make enough of a difference to be worth the $700 estimate I got from the local dyno shop. (I do currently have a tune installed so it is already improved a fair amount from stock configuration).

Hey man what gear were you in when you took those? 4th (1:1) or 5th?
