Re: Clutch!!!

I know what you mean. My clutch is so stiff, and I got in a Mazda6 to drive for a friend and basically slammed it's clutch through the floor because it had no resistance. Haha. Gotta love stangs. I personally like a really stiff clutch.

Mine is stock I believe. My 92 Toyota pedal is so soft compared to it.

There is no fluid for the clutch. Its mechanical not hydraulic which is part of the reason its stiff. Not to mention the clutch itself will have higher pressure to hold more power than a 92 toyota lol.

On a new one the speed shop can show you via the part number and explain it. I don't believe King Cobras come in stages. If you are referring to what's already in the car you will have to do what dude said and take it out and look at the part number.

Mustangs clutches are naturally stiff. It's used to support the power compared to most cars.

Ya I was really thinking about it but my guy kept telling me I'd get use to it and that it needed it cause of how much power my car has so I stuck it out and now I drive it like nothing.. He drives on the weekend and has a hard time .. I laugh at him everytime

How much power do you have? A good stage 2 can handle a good amount haha

Re: Clutch!!!

I know the 99's and up use a cable -- and I've read where people put grease on them to lube them, but I myself would want to lean more toward something graphite based. Take the cable out if possible and lube it well, clean up the excess and replace it. Other stuff I've read is to make sure to use the stock ford cable (new) and that it's got very low resistance.

If you upgrade the clutch you'll want a HD cable as the stick ones will break and you'll also want an aluminum quadrant as the plastic(stock) one will fail. You can get those two parts and a fire wall adjuster as kit pretty cheap.. Stock clutch parts suck when you start adding power and upgrade the clutch.

Re: Clutch!!!

When I first got my 98 the clutch seemed stiff as heck. My dad has an 06 GT, and the clutch is nowhere as stiff as my car. I have a King Cobra clutch in my car, and I love it!
