Auto to Manual. What will work?

I have a 2002 Mustang GT and im wanting to convert it to a 5-speed. Will a T-5 or T45 work? It seem like the newer transmissions are more and I cant find any around here.

Thanks for the help.

T-45 is the one out of those two to use.

t-45, t3650 or t-56 for your year. fyi, if you plan on hard shifting and upgrading to hard clutch you may start crank walk (end play). many automatic vehicles from factory don't use many thrust bearings on the crankshafts outer mains, since in an auto there isn't any hard forward/backward pressure on the crankshaft when auto shifting vs manual shifting. so, you install a manual transmission you will be creating more force when shifting than a smooth automatic transmission. not to scare you, but wanted you to know. you will be ok for daily driving, but over time the the bearings will wear.

I would not count my auto as a smooth shifting transmission. If I put it in 1 and then put it into 2 it will break the tires loose.

Thanks for the info though and it will by my daily driver and im not going crazy on the car.

it is still smooth compared to manual with a clutch that actuates forward and backwards against the flywheel wich is connected to the crank wich inturn will put pressure back and forth on the crank as you shift, all that auto shifting from your current trans doesn't have the back and forth motion as a manual. that force you feel in your auto is the torque from the motor. hope this is easier to understand, more knowledge is better. i'm not busting, just giving you some info.

yea you're gonna be fine, but over time you will create crank walk, and at high rpms it will warp the crank and rods because of the play it will have and then eventually fail. just like everything else that has moving parts, they wear and fail, that's just how it is.

My opinion is: You should not do this. Change Gears, Converters, quick shifters, whatever, but don't change whole thing. I drive an Automatic, but I have owned a stick in the past. I think you will be asking for more, and more problems down the road.
