Re: Major Mustang Upgrade

That is about the price of forged internals. They are not cheap. And if you go cheap you will regret it later when you rebuild again and have to replace more cause you went cheap.

Just some idea's.

Wow 1000-1500 for forged internals. That's cheap. I was looking at eagles rotating assemblies for 2k and thought they were pretty cheap.

Re: Major Mustang Upgrade

for a fully forged bottom end... with pistons to match bore... 2200$ for a setup good for about 800hp sounds about right. If you can do all the work yourself. If you want new heads, cnc ported etc etc etc... your looking at a lot of money. A set of cnc heads will run you another 2-3 grand and you've still gotta find a nice cam, valves, springs, etc etc etc ... ARP bolts too... Its not cheap but you could build a monster NA car with 7 grand in parts. If your just doing the bottom end then your not really getting anything for it now. But fully forged, 9:1 compression or lower, and you could dump upwards of 20lbs of boost through the right heads...

I'm looking more in the 650 HP range and I was gonna go wit DSS strip/street forged kit tha can handle up to 700hp for $1,500 and I was gonna go trick flow twisted wedge heads with there stage 3 cams with there intake package for $3,200...there heads kit assembly suppose to take a stock engine to between 360 to 390 HP alone

I dunno about the 360-390 claim there. If you want to make 650 hp your looking at a solid 16-21lbs of boost through quality heads. If you cheap out on a 1500$ lower end rated.for 700 your asking for it imo. 500 and there fine. What are you gonna be doing with the car? And have you looked into the driveline upgrades your gonna need?

With the 4.6 you can make 390 by cams, heads, and intake up to the manifold. They did it in mm&ff on an engine dyno. Of course it's not at the wheels but still, your looking at 340 rwhp
