It's from an aftermarket alarm system.

Yeah, look under the dash below the steering Column. (you may have to remove the lower panel) Look for a small plastic box. It'll have some wires coming out of it, they will be tapped into your main wire harness. Usually they will stand out. Try to get a good look at the box and look for a name or a model number and Google it. Odds are, if it's a lights and sounds kit it's probably cheaper just to buy a new alarm system then to try and locate replacement transmitters. Alarm systems start around $100 at any Mom&Pop car audio shop. They should remove the old on for free.
