mufflers? ?

I'm looking for a good sounding mufflers. I want to keep the low tone growl that mustangs have making them sound throughty. I don't want raspy nascar. Ruckus. What should I get. . I have bbk shorty headers and an off rd. H pipe. People say flowmaster 40 or 44 are good

Flowmasters are good. So are Mac Flowpaths and Bassani mufflers. Basically any chamber muffler will do but for the sound you want, those will be best.

I have hooker long tubes with a custom mandrel bent stainless x pipe and stainless magnaflow mufflers. The car sounds amazing. I also have cams so the idle sounds great.

I would agree about the Flowmaster 40s being the bang for the buck. I'll get a video of mine posted up for you so you can hear what it sounds like. The only modification I have is a JLT CAI.

Magnaflow for the win not much drone like the flowmasters you will hate driving on the free way at 60-70 miles when you have to turn the music up to full blast and can't even have a conversation. The mid pipe you choose is very dependent on the muffler you pair with it: a off road mid pipe sounds nice with a straight through type like magnaflow; magnapacks and slp loud mouth and a catted one is nice with chambered such as flows or upr or dynomax but to each his own. But trust me go online on you tube and watch as many clips as u can find before u pick it cause you don't wanna do what i did and have to re do your whole exhaust cause it sounds like $@&$

I agree that flows are the best bang for the buck but damn I used these through out the nineties on several mustangs and yes they drown a lot. The bottom line is there are better exhaust options and higher quality mufflers systems available. It really depends on your budget.

I like the flowmasters. The super 44 isn't as agressive and its quieter.than.stock on the highway. The original 40s don't make.much more noise either. I had original 30s on my 96 amd coupled with an o/r H it was so loud. Loved it but it droned a lot. I wouldn't worry about drone with just mufflers... its o/r midpipes that cause big drone.

Re: mufflers? ?

I'd say go with magnaflows regulars and a catted x pipe it sounds amazing that's the combo I'm going for I'm in the middle of trading my off road magnaflow off road x pipe for a catted version straight up and then I'm having the magnaflow cat back custom made for me with 2.5" piping and. 3" tips with the mufflers. Its such a deep tone no rasp very clean and crisp. Flows are so hollow sounding and when under decel is sounds like a marble is rolling around in your tail pipes. Off road x pipes cause a lot of rasp but certain mufflers can clean it up. Also Mac off road prochamber with Mac flow paths and Mac long tubes is a great sound for the price sounds so pissed of and mean but it's loud you will attract attention. Where the magnaflows are just a bit louder than stock but have such a different tone.

Re: mufflers? ?

Ya if you wanna sound just like every other mustang gt out there they have terrible drone on the freeway and make a popping rattling sound on rpm deceleration and it sounds like a little marble rolling around in a coffee can its terrible. Magnaflow is so smooth and nice deep tone and not too expensive.!if money is not a problem I'd look into borla stingers now that's a great sounding exhaust or Bassani as well but they are on the higher end than magnaflows and flowmaster is at the very bottom in price and sound.!sounds like a wet fart when you start your car up.

If you don't want drone at all than go with dynomax ss ultraflows, magnaflows, or Pypes violator. They're still chambered style so you'll get that type of sound, but without the droning, so you won't have to raise your voice to have a conversation.

Magneflow is the way to go I've had them on my 2001 2006 and now my 2010 and probably the only kind I'll get they sound so good specially if u get the whole system from the headers to back
