Sct x3 question.

So I'm planning on a pi swap soon for my 96. my question is will I be able to re tune the computer for this or will I have to have shop tune it. I know someone who is selling a sct x3 for 150$ and that's a steal. Is it worth spending the money or will I have to have a custom tune for the swap. I'm hoping to use some upgraded cams if I can find some for the right price. Thanks for the help.

Re: Sct x3 question.

As said above, you will need to have it tuned by a real tuner

Is there the possibility of downloading a custom tune from a company. I'd like to be able to run a mild and a wild when I want. I commute about 24 miles 14 times a week. But I would also like a power producing weekend warrior when I want.

Re: Sct x3 question.

tunes can get complicated due to every car is different.

I talked to a guy that did many a tune for the 03/04 cobras. He knew his stuff and even owned one. he sent me a base tune for the boost upgrade I did. I baselined it (NO BOOST) and sent back data loggs. he tweeked the tune and sent it back.

I dynoed the car and data logged again and he updated (was rich) and the next dyno session it was good.

If someone local is good and you can trust them go that route though and always have a dyno with your a/f checked! and see how close you are to maxing out your fuel, fuel pump, injectors all that good stuff

Ok. What I would like to do is have two different tunes. One streetable and one strip. Is that something I can have done and loaded on a sct flash and be able to switch between the two.

Forgot to say, you can switch tunes any time as long as you have the correct gas in it. It only takes like 2 minutes to change tunes

So what your saying is I can take the car to a shop and have it properly tuned then have that tune put in the tuner then have another tune made and put that one in and then I can switch from one to the other.

Yep. Usually you can ask for a Race, Performance, and Street tune and you can choose what octane you want it to work with. However I have never had a dyno tune do I don't know if they will charge you for each tune. I ordered my tuner from AM so I got the free tunes for life, when I ordered it I they loaded it with 3 different tunes.
