Cold Air Intake

What CAI is California legal? I was looking at the CAI on AmericanMuscle for $85 but do not know if it is CA legal.

Also, would I get the same performance just putting in a K&N air filter or is it worth putting in the CAI?

Re: Cold Air Intake

just the air filter wont help much at all, even a CAI wont do much at all either, like 5rwhp or maybe a bit more if you are lucky~

Don't buy a stock k&n filter or fipk. They are too much money. you can get a cheap kit on eBay and put a k&n filter on it. They all do the same thing. Name brand just tends to have better quality with fit and finish. Even my bbk has surface rust pits on it. And with the stock strut brace it was difficult to install without binding. Go cheap on the tubing and paint to match your car. Also. K&n has a recharge kit so you don't have to replace the filter. Just clean and reoil. Good luck and check reviews before you buy.

I wouldn't think it would make any issues.

Is it the filter that needs to be CA legal or the whole intake system?

Pick the one you want and install it. When testing time comes take the cai out and stock back in. It's that simple.

Yea, I thought about that, but I don't want to have to do that, even though it's only every 2 years. By the way, you have a mean looking hood on your Stang, it looks awesome! But, anyways, I think I might just get the bbk intake off AmericanMuscle. Thanks for your help though.

See if the bbk that isn't in fender is carb approved. I read that usually the in fender kits draw colder air, which is better but might effect the emissions.
