getting the motor/trans/etc up to par (worn out parts etc) would probably restore the most overall performance and handling.

tear it down....build it back up...and when you do put it all together go ahead and do a pi swap from a 99-04 GT..thanks to the compression you'll be netting more hq and tq then your average new edge

not neccesarly true.they both have pros and cons.
a turbo is more efficient.2 identical cars i with turbo and one sc both 8 psi the turbo will put more to the ground hands down.but a turbo is harder to intall.mostly cause plumbing stuff.a turbo lags from a launch unless spooled.also im not big on the way a turbo car sound they are quiet because a good amount of the exhaust is recycled.this is just my opinion

I gotcha.. But at least with my v8, i want power coming from the exhaust because its... More power. Having a turbo in my car is like have a big supercharger on a little 95' honda civic. It looks Dumb. And doesnt utilize everything possible...

Turbo is 100 percent better than a blower.

On a mustang? I dont think so. These are opinions. Turbos have pros and cons, superchargers have pros and cons

Yes but fact is they are 100 percent better all around lol. The pros out weigh the cons on a turbo hands down. This is fact lol

lol you need to learn more about cars in general if this is your outlook on boost...i love a good centri or eaton, but you have no clue the potential of what a solid turbo setup will do for these cars. and what do you mean it doesn't utilize everything possible...you mean the fact that a turbo setup doesn't take power to make power lol...or the fact that a proper turbo takes less boost to make bigger numbers on our cars? please feel free to show me your logic.

ok so you want looks over function and power...got it

now that we have that cleared up...are you looking for a centri or an eaton....now eatons look cooler so that's probly more your style. you'll need a new hood though...usually a 2.5" cowl will do the trick in most cases. however for the money a procharger is a good option.

lol so all show now real go....don't cut your stock hood. That look was fine on a real pony car, but not on our cars. My friend did that to fit his m112 and he hated it...so he bought a cobra r hood.

Honestly that'll be tough finding a blower that'll stock all the way through the hood. A centrifugal type is probably the best way to go without getting a new hood. But a twin screw definitely looks sexy. And not to beat a dead horse, but a turbo would fit under the hood no problem

he thinks they belong on hondas...no need to try to talk to him about them.

a centri is his best choice...but i think he really wants an eaton style because it looks cool

You should learn more about turbos, since they are more efficient than superchargers and use spent exhaust gases they in your words "utilize" everything possible, to go farther you can also add under drive pullies, and you don't have to deal with belt slip.

I've never once seen anybody open a hood of a turbo mustang and do anything but drool over it.

Domestic ricers do happen, people who want mods for looks and nothing else.

I like turbos to but that's not what the guy wants!! I am installing a roots type on my 88 because I also like the look and style of it.I would go centrifugal before I stick the blower out the hood.but there maybe better scoop options available also.

Re: What HP mods can i do for a 96' Mustang with 200,000 miles?

What i was thinking was just in time, replace most parts under the hood to newer parts, which would potentially drop my mileage down a lot because they aren't as worn as the previous parts. Right? all parts under the hood and Maybe put a 5.0 in there as well as new tranny and everything. Is it worth putting a 5.0 in or rebuilding my 4.6? And if I get more power turbocharging it, I suppose i can do that. I just want to go on the cruise here and have something that sounds and runs menacing. ya know??

---------- Post added at 05:03 PM ---------- Previous post was at 04:46 PM ----------

Also, I know this is asking a lot, but if someone can come up with a list of parts that I should focus on, and then parts that I don't have to worry about right now. just in the future i should replace them. Or maybe a website that says every part replaceable on a 96' mustang gt. With a 98' V8. THANKS!

I was going to do the 4.6 to the 5.0 swap but it would cost more in the long run from what I researched. I'm going to rebuild my bottom end and put the trick flow top end kit. They make ur car sound amazing. I have a guy that is going to give me the price on everything and I will let u know how much it will cost if u want.
