Nope, just an aerodynamic limitation, and a power limitation that wont allow you to go but 130 factory mostly factory

No governors that I'm aware of on 99-04 models. I hit about 143ish in my 00 GT. The only limitation is the stock gearing and overall horse power really. Stock gears are 3:27's which help with top speed runs. If you're looking for higher top speed, look to a power adder; cams or lower gears. But you may need an aerodynamic aid like a front splitter or rear wing (think 2000 Cobra R--wing and splitter were not just for looks on those cars you know!) for anything above 155mph plus a suspension upgrade. In North America top speed means **** unless you plan to run the Texas Mile event or bring your car to Germany and run it on a real road!

I know--that's why I suggested it. The rear wing and front splitter on the R are suppose to provide about 175lbs of downforce at around 170mph

Exactly! Unless someone circuit races their car or enters it in an event like the Texas Mile. Unlikely for most

Ive hit about 145 and got out of it because I was running out of road. I have no doubt that mine will do 150.
Plus mines a convertible, not near as aerodynamic as a coupe.

+1... But honestly I'd leave the rev limiter on... You'll just destroy your engine if you go past that redline long enough.

Oh, and btw, v6s are the only ones with a speed governor.

I've hit 147 in my '02 GT as well, as GPS has recorded. And I agree, it's stupid and I'll never do it again. I doubt il ever go much over 115 ever again until I get a lot more work dine. Lol.

It's should be at or very close to the stock redline. (part of your tachometer that's red)

I'm lokking forward to a top speed shootout. Cops up here close a runway or stretch of nice pavement and let us nutters have a go to deter people from doing it on public streets. I hit around 137 in my old gt. I'm willing to bet I might see more in my mach 1 haha.

Re: Speed governor ?

Well my GT has only seen 94mph with me, I dont want a ticket nor the raise in insurance, so I stick with the 0-80 mph range lol.

Oh and im 17 so I dont even have my full licensce here in Missouri not tell march when I hit 18 lol (If you get a ticket before 18 they will make it hell to get you full licensce)

yeah....lets just say it may or may not of involved a s2000 wanting some...again very stupid on my part which is why i tell people no need for them to really go over the speed limit unless on a track or closed course

I drive about 15 miles of country road at about 3am coming home from work on weekends so no cops and no traffic. I've hit well over 100mph. Fun but scary stuff tho and probably won't ever do it again since the other day I almost hit a deer going 50 Lol.

Southern alberta. When they were building the new ring road in calgary they did it before it opened... perfectly flat, perfectly straight, 6km long 4 lanes both ways.
