New to site. Have alot of questions.

I just recently purchased my 1996 Mustang GT Convertible and I was thinking about some mods. I want to do exhaust but don't want anything crazy loud. What is a good system. Flowmaster Super44's sound good but are they loud? Also x pipe or h pipe? And does the sct tuner adjust your speedometer when you change tires or gears? Also does it prevent you sensors in the exhaust from keeping your check engine light on? Have lots of questions so give me lots of feedback. Thanks

Flows don't sound bad, I personally don't like them but lots of people do. Check American Muscle to listen to exhaust videos. A tuner will allow you to do all those things and more I believe. X and H you need to look on YouTube for.

I run Flows and an H pipe. Byebye cats. They sound good, not so loud you have to worry about pissing off the neighbors. Drone is kinda annoying around 2k though.

I have magnaflows. They are somewhat quite when not on it, but have a nice rumble hen stepped on!!! You can get a sct to change the speedo and cel, but it costs more then one to just re scan it!

Went with the magnaflo wide open cats system and the pypes o/r h pipe. American muscle says they can't recal the speedo. Only on 99 and up the speedo's were electronically run. Oh well plan to do 3.73 gears so just will have to get a new speedo gear. Also what's everybody's thoughts on throttle body and plenum? Is it worth the money?

Im new to the site but I've had my 03 gt stang since 2003. I dont think those bolt ons are worth the money. Get a tuner instead and have it dyno tuned. You'll get more hp for your money.

Are you looking for "big power" or are you just looking for some thing to get a little more pep?..

A tuner should be one of your first upgrades!..

Ya went with a sct tuner. Should be here in about a week. Won't install the parts till summer. What does everybody think about underdrive pulleys. Somebody told me about overheating issues? Any thoughts?

For exhaust x pipe sounds wayyyy better in my opinion, more raspy. H pipe I'm not much of a fan, I've also heard h pipe is more quieter? But I'm not exactly sure

Neither one is actually louder than the other!.. Just that the H-pipe has a deeper tone to it!..

Yup got the cai/tuner combo from AM. Want to do throttle body and plenum in time. Next purchase is some gears and rims.

---------- Post added at 10:01 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:59 PM ----------

A friend of mine wants to sell me his pi heads off an 01 but to get them installed is like 1500. If I did I would get a few ponys off of that.

Yep. You'll be pushing more power than a stock new edge. Should bump up compression too.

Also does anybody know about speedo calibration. Somebody says you need to get a speed cal like at AM and put it on. Does Anybody know if it does for both tire and gear changes? is it crappy or should a guy just go with the speedo gear?

I dont think the tunes can do anything to a mechanical speedo. Its literally a cable. Im not too up to speed on the 94-98's but if it works like any other mech. speedo you'll have to change the gear if you change the wheel/tire size(not width obviously), or axle ratio.
