99-04 GT

Alright guys I am wondering in with that motor. If you upgrade the heads, cams, exhaust, some kind of tune or engine management system, intake. What kind of horsepower could you be looking at??? If you guys know of something that needs to be added to the list or changed just throw it in. I'm looking at my options for my next car and trying to do some research on what I want. Thanks guys, realitycheck

Re: 99-04 GT

There are a ton of different setups that you can go with. If you replace the upper, port the lower, have the heads done and other things (without getting into the block) I am sure you can pick up a modest amount of hp/tq (also replace the cams). I am not 100% sure on what the gains will be~ it all depends on the setup you are going for.

I would assume with a top end engine build and the bolt ons with a very good dyno tune (NOT a mail order tune pos) you would up your power from about 230/250 to high 200's and low 300s in tq or so~

Re: 99-04 GT

with cams, stock heads, and most other boltons, a friend put down 261 WHP/315 tq after tune..

With a cobra crank, some lightweight internals, the fox lake lower intake, valves and such he bumped that up to 305/321... at the wheels, so there's some potential but without head work there's not terribly much, and boost is the way to go for most power... (or nitrous but that's more limited in how long you can use it haha)

Re: 99-04 GT

well its just seems like a lot more money and work compared to just getting an 03 -04 cobra. I guess its less money but still with a cobra you'd have more power. What are they rated at the wheels stock?

Re: 99-04 GT

jlt cai, bbk longtubes, h pipe, flowmasters and custome dyno tune got me 250/285 and im sure it would have been a tiney tiny bit higher if we would have been able to let it cool a little longer.
