I was wondering how hard it would be to take the machine 460 box out and put 6 or 8" mid range subs any ideas?

The 460 has 4 small speaker and 4 large speaker no sub. The box just there to help the sound. If you wanna change the system. Get some 6*8 and add a amp for these speaker. Then a 10 inch sub and amp and it will sound good that's what I got if you want more shaking two 10 inch should be good

I have two 10" jl audio with 1500w amp and crossfader with the Mach 460 system. I love it, there is plenty of rumble. Where I live having a system is one of the first things you do to your car. My car sounds better than almost anyone's with 12s and it hits just as hard. I've had friends tell me they can hear me long before I turn the corner to their street.

It's easily done you have to run new wire though. There's only 4 bolts that hold it into the rear deck and you'll have to let the wires dangle behind the carpet but it's still easily done. Lol 1500 watt amp huh. Lol this is why know car audio irritates me cause I see that and forget that people don't know audio like I do. That would be more power then my whole system and it's about 5k worth of sub, amp, speakers and head unit. I'm not saying your stupid by any means I'm just trying to help educate you so you know. Unless its a amp that's worth over a 1000 I doubt it's got 1500 watts. Most of the time you spend about a dollar a watt.

I could be mistaken. I did not install it. I've only had my car about 3 months. The previous owner, who was the original owner, told me that is what he had done. It's the only so called "mod" my car came with. It's all professionally installed and very clean. I looked up the deck online and it was $600 new. He told me he paid a good chunk and I believed him. By no means am I stereo pro

(15y,car audio installer.) the only amps that are goin to trow 1500rms are the economical brands like chrunch, hifonics, and others there around $150 and over but they do give you around 1500rms maybe 2500peak(max) depends your setup and batterie power , but in a mustang you dont really need 1500watts of power when a 400wattsrms 4channel and nice brand speakers can give you a really nice sound in highs and a 12" or two 10" woofers whit a 300 to 500watts rms amp would give you a solid bass , also remember if you want to get a lot of bass and want to put more power then get a truck to put some 15" woofers , to much power in a mustang would be waisting money and not getting what you ispected because of the small trunk and interior space

Yea see that's why I educate people lol it's a good thing to know about it especially if your buying a new stereo or amp or anything. Don't feel bad cause not alot of people have the knowledge. With brands like kenwood, Sony, Pyle, pioneer, and all the Walmart brands it just makes the whole world confusing With all the 1500 watts!!! Business for marketing. The amp is actually one of the key objects of a system next to the actual head unit. A good amp can make a bad sub good and a good sub great. What kind of amp is it?

---------- Post added at 07:28 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:15 PM ----------

The only way you would get 1500 watts from a 150 dollar amp is when lightning strikes it. Even hifonic amps are fairly expensive. JL audio, Rockford, kicker, mtx, Memphis, alpine are some of the brands that you'll get the actual power
They say. It's more then just max output. You have to look at specific ohm resistance, voltage, constant voltage, your cars voltage, thd distortion. There's a bunch of stuff you have to look at when your building a big system but mostly you just look at the voltage ratings and match the ohm output to your subs ohm resistance.

My car has a 13 JL w7 and a JL 1000/1v2. I took the Mach box out and replaced all the speakers with JL zr 6 1/2. There's no such thing as to much sub but there's such thing as to much bass lol. I have noticed that since I took the amp from a vehicle with a 200 amp alternator that it has alot of voltage drop from the poor charging in the mustang.

Re: mach 460

hell yea man I like it, but I dont want a whole lot of weight and like the stock look and was thinking of maybe even buying 2 new JL 5x7's, I'm sure they would sound a lot better then stock.
