Mach 1 hood and shaker

I found a Mach 1 hood with a shaker meant for a gt. just the shaker kit is almost 800$ to buy new. I was wondering if this would be a good move for me and if the shaker is useful or worthless. The guys asking 700 for both hood and shaker (hood matches my color so no paint req)

Who wants to chime in??

I don't think they do anything but looks. It takes the air to the stock airbox location am if u have a Cai it wild be blow air on a tube. I would say just stick with the GT look and buy something to go faster with the money.

agreed, all it is if you look is a tub that attaches down by where our filters are, and then go up to the shaker. I could be wrong but im pretty sure it has no HP gains at all. It is all visual.

I was really hoping it would add 300hp to the wheels having this scoop there...

It pipes a little cool air into the air box/ engine bay. Ive owned a gt and now that I have my mach 1 I gotta say it is SO MUCH FUN. I love watching it vibrate and its a great show for passengers. Any power gains you get will be offset by the aerodynamic hit tho for sure. Make sure the kit includes the brackets, mounting pins and grommets. I've seen the mounting equipment sell for 500$ before. In my opinion, and if I had just a gt, Id go for it. Offer him 600 for it.

The shaker is one of the reasons i like the mach 1. But it really doesnt much for the car except a little shaking it does. But 800 isnt bad at all for both since most places ask 800 for just the shaker and on top of that you have to cut a hold in your hood. If you have the extra money to spend why not.

I personally think its a good deal if thats the look you want to go for do it and 500 is a steal if it has everything you need and dont need to paint the hood.

Re: Mach 1 hood and shaker

if you could get him to 500 id definitely do it just for the looks.. and another reason... how many verts do you see buddy with a mach 1 shaker setup!

on the odd side of things... does anyone know if the lifter spacer increases the airflow at all in the shakers? I have hear people who buy the spacers to raise the shaker up into the airstream to help with flow? am I completely insane for thinking that makes sense?

Re: Mach 1 hood and shaker

If you like the look, go for it! Make sure the shaker and the hole line up. Remember, you have an original Mach 1 hood and an after market kit. I personally love the Mach 1 look; I had one. I know the kit alone runs almost $800. If you can get it for less, even better. If you get it to work for you, you'll be glad you did it. If I had the opportunity, I would. Good luck guy.

Re: Mach 1 hood and shaker

$500 for both i think is a goood deal. AM has just the shaker for $7** so, gettting the shaker and the mach hood for possibly under $700 is a good deal.
