I hear the cheapest route for exhaust is to do a muffler delete.. can i hear what the advantages and disadvantages are?

It is a cheap route.. IMO you car will sound like ***. Especially if you are not removing the cats as well. There are cheaper mufflers out there that will do the job w/o breaking the bank. You can use YouTube an other sites for sound test.. There is nothing like hearing it in person

I've heard videos on YouTube where it sounds beasty.. It wouldn't be a permanent thing.. I just wana wake my pony up in the meantime until I do a full exhaust..

Re: 99-04 Straight pipes

Ok i'll insert my thoughts here because I have gone through more exhaust set ups than should be considered healthy lol

Just in the straight pipe category I have run the following setups on my 2004 GT

-Muffler Delete
-Muffler Delete and No Cats (off road X pipe)
-No Cats and Stock Mufflers
-Off Road X Pipe and dumps w/ Mufflers
-Off Road X Pipe and dumps w/o Mufflers

Currently working on a dump style setup with True Dual No X/H pipe.

If you use your car as your daily driver consider two things to be a guarantee.
1) It will be stupid loud
2) Any in Car conversation, is now gone.

also Make sure its legal where you are to remove your cats, if its not just keep your stock H pipe until Inspection Time.

Re: 99-04 Straight pipes

theres still a dfference between loud good and loud bad. Would you rather sound good to the camaro guys, or good to the other mustang enthusiasts. all in all its whatever you personally like. its why I have gone through so many set ups

Well ive had a Z28 and I don't think it's possible for a GT to sound better than a camaro.. I just want the loudness that when I cruise by its a head turner.. If that's even possible with just mufflers
