Convertible top problems

Today I put my top down in my 97 gt. and when I went to go put it up it didn't work. The motor doesn't make a sound. However it still makes a sound when I push the down button. I've checked the fuses in the fuse box under the hood and they're fine. Any idea what the problem is?

Hmmm....either motor only works in down or you got hydraulic problems....motor should still make sounds... *pondering*

Re: Convertible top problems

I own an 97GT conv. as well. I have a very strong feeling that you will need to pull your center console. Pull the switch, get some electronic cleaner/lubricant and clean it. As you already know the switch sits directly under the extendable cup holder. Over a period of time the switch either sticks or does not work; gunk problems. clean it out and it should work again. if the switch is busted, then try doing it manually by jumping the wires to the mortor at the console area. I dont recall the number of wires but there should be 3 no more than four wires there. The lift mortor only functions in two directions fwd and rev. I think you get the idea. Its the switch becuase the motor runs. Good Luck. let me know how it turns out. Thanks.

Angry 97 Manual Mustang GT Convertible Top Problems

Good Day!
I have a 97 Mustang GT and my convertible top stopped working today just suddenly. It worked fine every other day
I pressed the button and it went down fine. However, when I pressed the button to go down or up it makes no sound and wont move. The car is in Netural, emergency brakes is all the way up, car is off - it works fine like this all the times. Do anyone know my problem? Everything else works fine. Can it be a blown fuse?

Help! HelP! Help! Please....
I am bugged.
