03 Mustang Engine swap

My 4.6 SOHC has 163,000 miles on it and is giving me problems. I figure with my tax return ill just drop a new engine in it....My question is what other v8 mustang engines will bolt up to my transmission....Could i drop a mach1 or cobra engine it? This is my first GT..Ive owned several mustangs but have all been v6s and 4 cylinders. I got tired of spending 10k to make a v6 out run a GT only to get smoked by a cobra lol....Thanks in advance for the answers!

what year is your gt ? and im not sure if it will bolt right up with your tranny but im pretty sure if you want a cobra engine you should get the tranny from it as well.havent done a swap before but just saying. why dont you just drop another gt in it, im sure that one will bolt on with no problem with your tranny

Re: 03 Mustang Engine swap

build up your 2V GT motor! you will love the outcome a LOT more without spending as much. you need more than just the motor and trans for a 4V motor if I remember right.

+1

Trick flow twisted wedge heads, LT headers, nice lower intake, tb/plenum (I like the 78mm bbk all in one) cold air intake, catless h or x mid pipe (or pro chamber like I'm gonna get is another option), better flowing mufflers, gears, UD pullies, and a short throw. Your looking at less than a cobra swap....somewhere between 350-400hp and not a lot more to do in order to SC it!

While you have it out if you have the $ forge the bottom end incase you ever want to make BIG power

Thanks guys. I have a friend of mine who just had his 04 GT totaled. He was hit from the rear. He had twisted customs here in Columbus GA build his 2V 4.6 from the block up about 3 months ago....Hes got maybe 3k miles on it since he bought it...I think im gonna just buy his...Since hes OK from the wreck and wanted a newer model GT anyway Im gonna say SCORE for me LOL

I would say that if the bottom end was built to hold with those heads you are just a kenne bell supercharger away from a real monster
