The 4v came in two forms!.. Naturally Aspirated in the '96-2002 Cobra and Mach1, and Supercharged in the 2003-2004 Cobra!.. Also known as the Terminator!.. The '03-'04 Cobra had about 365+ HP!...

I want one of these, Ford Racing 4.6 4V Aluminator Long Block for Naturally Aspirated Applications M-6007-A46NA - Free Shipping! I think its what was in the 2005-09 body style Cobra Jet.

4.6 2V
96-98 GT 215hp *98 225hp
99-04 GT 260 HP

4.6 4V
96-01 Cobra 305hp - 320hp
03-04 Cobra 390hp supercharged - many dyno'd in stock trim @ 385 to the wheels

Then you have other 4V motors available that came in Lincoln Mark VIII, around 260hp - 280hp some were all aluminum.

You get mixed answers, but if going 2V I'd suggest a 99 and up.. IMO

If given a choice where $ is not an issue you'll make more power faster with a 3V or 4V.. More valves = more power

Having owned both I've gotta say the 2v is great, but the 4v is awesome... I love the way it makes power and revs. There really a great engine. Right up to the point they break... then the bank takes a pretty heavy beating... I've already started a 'rebuild the mach 1 engine' fund. I don't expect it to blow up or anything but it will someday... then ill have cash to make it bulletproof.

Re: 2v vs. 4v 4.6 engines?

Yeah, your sold, I'm gettin bought. My 2 valve chatters around 3K then settles down for the rest (tuned). Still, now I'm tinkin of hardening the heads, that means UPGRADE!!. My motor has 97K. I have built tremendous rear end torque according to SCT, but I'm not believin it though. MTF.

Good luck man. love it alltheway.
