What mods should i get with a 1k budget

I've been thinking about Steeda CAI, 3.73 Gears, Steeda UD Pulleys, or Ceramic BBK Long Tube Headers.

What do you guys think??

Tune gears exhaust. Or tune and the baby bottle. Depends what you want.

Tuning more applies to engine oper. You are talking bolt-ons. Here's the low down. CAI costs min $200, with DIY, cost is $0. diff gear upgrade, $600 min labor, gear cost not included. Diff upgrade req new wheel bearings & the lot. Longtubes, DIY? No comment. Pro $4-500. What you think?

Gear will be around 400-600 depends what you give to the shop but gears are worth the money.

600 min in labor for gear install? Wow, where do you live. Theres a top notch shop where I live who is installing mine for $360 labor. Gears cost roughly 275, thats with bearing kit included. Little different because Im getting the 4.10 Gear/Tuner combo with bearing kit and gear oil for 500, so still cheaper than what you quoted...

Check your local shops for labor cost of gear install...Get the gears done and UDP's!

Get the gears and bearing kit yourself....a lot cheaper.

This same shop wanted 700 to do a clutch with theirs...i bought a clutchkit from AM for 240 and theyre charging me 300 and thats resurfacing flywheel too..

Doing the CAI urself is too easy...a lot of writeups for DIYs

I have absolutely no clue what kind it is, and also learned to drive stick on this car so I'm not really sure how a stock shifter feels? Sorry man

Re: What mods should i get with a 1k budget

Wrong question! Where do you live? Cuz I wanna go to your shop. Question though, know anyone that tore up their gears after about a year or less and the mech said its was their fault? If you do, then you've been paying...

Anyways, In NC everything is expensive. Don't get me political.

Aww, hogwash, go buy a steeda quadrant kit with the clutch cable kit. It'll make you feel manly. Your GF wont be able to push the clutch and therefore never be able to drive your ride.

---------- Post added at 02:20 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:15 AM ----------

With a 1K budget, you should be focusing on the proper operation of your motor and the rest of the car itself. If your engine is running great, or within V8 parameters, you should find an exhaust system that you like. Remember that exhausts do two things: great sound and improved flow that eventually build HP with added apps. I believe in being legal all the way, so I don't encourage strait pipes.

Thanks, I already have that. I have a 96 SVT Cobra with a B&M short shift kit, Flowmaster Exhaust including new X-pipe back, cat-delete, Flowmaster mufflers, K&N CAI, & a Superchip. bought it at 39K miles. Put 1400 miles on it since July. Someday soon I hope to remove the Superchip, I bought a pair of Hi-Flow Cats from AM, and then have it Dyno-Tuned. Spiney

Yes bought it the end of July. We try to keep the miles down. Right now w/o cats we can only go 5K miles per year to keep it smog exempt. The previous owner never drove it in rain, kept it as a garage queen and put on only about 1200-1500 miles per year. He bought it in 99 and sold it to us July of 2011. It's like new except for a real annoying rattle behind the dash at certain mph's which I must find. It drives us nuts. Spiney

Oh wow and yeah that would drive me crazy...it must suck living in a state that does smog tests and all that.

Re: What mods should i get with a 1k budget

It's loud and deep, with some cut when you get on it. Maybe I'll you tube it when we get a nice day and upload it. On long drives it's actually a bit annoying. But when you rev it at a light, or step on it from 0-100 it's pretty sweet. My wife who was not a motor head does not want me to put the cats on because she loves the sound. It sounds better than the GT or Mach 1's on Gran Tourismo which are supposed to be sampled exhaust sounds. It's not raspy like a tuner car. Spiney
