How can you tell if you have stock springs??

Was looking under my car the other day and noticed that my springs were blue, since then I've been wondering if they were stock or not.

They're not factory springs. Factories are black. I'm not sure which springs you have look online

A good way to tell is to measure your ride height.

Well there is chopping springs or removing your spring isolates if you're willing to put up with the extra road noise.

I cut a coil out of each of my springs. Dropped it about 2"s. I put the isolators back on too. Noticed no difference in ride quality. A lot of people don't think cutting our springs is a good idea, but I've done it with no I'll effects. I did however do it as an experiment as I had ordered my dropzone springs before hand, which are what I'm using now. Here is a pic of the spring. Its the best pic I have of it on my tablet right now.

Re: How can you tell if you have stock springs??

If you wrap the ends of the springs with electrical tape (some hd tape) and slather them in grease you shouldn't have too many problems with grinding or squeaking noises.

I've been going almost a year now with that setup and haven't had any problems.

Do this if you decide to leave out the isos..though I'd recommend leaving them in if you dd the car.

Re: How can you tell if you have stock springs??

Eibachs are black too! I say move on past the springs and move on to shocks/struts. if the springs are stock the car will probably ride like a buckboard. If the shocks are too weak, then it will ride like a jalopy. What can I say? I upgraded from slammed to raise the car so I could stop pebble dodging. I am happy with ride height. Most folks change the wheel size to cover fender well gap. I use different sizes on front vs rear for wheel speed issues, and damn good steering control etc. Lane shifts are quick and snappy and precise too, but that's me.
