Home Depot carries it. Spray paint section, blue and yellow aerosol can. Apply thick layers, then marvel as it proceeds to look like crap.

Well at least 90% of that post was accurate and helpful.
Plasti-dip is a great way to mock a paintjob to see if you like it and as it's popularity grows so will the variety of colors. I think they have white, red, yellow, and black out right now. For about $6 a can you can spray just about anything and see if you like it, then simply peel it off and lay down real paint. Or just re-dip it once every few months(for rims and such). It's very easy to work with. Simply spray from about 6-9 inches away, allow 15-30mins to dry if warm temps, longer in cold. Apply 3-4 coats for a decent coverage, or more depending on how long you want it to last and what you're applying it to.

Plasti-dip is really fun. :]

I won't quote to save room, but I agree with it's use as a paint "mock", but the finish it leaves just looks terrible. Fun product though, I just think too many people use it as a substitute to respraying a car.

I'm not too sure about respraying a car, though I do like topless' application having seen it in person. I do like its application for keeping salt off of rims in the winter. As well as you can test different designs with it. Like if i wanted to see what my truck looked like with racing stripes...if I didn't like I could just peel it off.

+1 Like I said, I only use it for rims because that finish actually can make rims look amazing if done right. The matte finish really makes the chrome lip pop!

And people who spray their entire car usually have other little tricks up their sleeve to make up for the finish. Thing about plasti-dip is that it is so easy to use and work with that the applications and customizations are practically endless. Note topless's car! And his rims(the ones he peeld :[[[[ ) looked amazing!

Yeah, tape off what you want to paint and spray it...if it doesn't turn out like you want peel it off. If the design is the way toy want it but you don't like the plastidip take it somewhere to get painted and tell them all try have to do Is tape it, peel it, prep it, paint it.

Re: Plastidip??

The BIIIIGGGEEESSSTT thing people are failing to mention.

1st coat - LIGHT
2nd coat - Heavy
3rd coat - Heavy
4th coat - Heavy

The more you put on, the easier it is to peel. If you go light with it and try to peel it off. Imagine it more like trying to get dried glue off your hands... where you keep rubbing it with your fingers to kinda roll it up and get it off. VS . If you apply the proper amount, you can start at one corner and literally peel the entire piece off as one.

hope this helps

Yeah that one is mine. Just used blue painters tape. I found I got the the best results by spraying the dip and then quickly removing the tape before it set. That way I didn't have to cut where the dip went onto the tape.

Took two tries to get the stripes I wanted. Even still only took about 15 minutes to do the fender.

The good old naked eye, not too shabby huh?

I did one light and three heavy. Stands up to the pressure washer, and if I want to change it up I can just peel it off.

Just have at it, you can't mess it up because you can just peel it off. I didn't like how it looked the first time I did it, so started over and now I'm pretty happy. I plan to take it and have the stripes painted on. Now I can just show the shop and say "I want this!"

I plasti dipped the chrome lip around my black bullit rims to give it that blacked out look (obviously the rest of the car is black) and it's been on there for about 6 months and still looks fine. It's held up to pressue washing, 130+ mph runs, and close to 5,000 miles of daily driving. For 6+ bucks a can it's a great investment. I also just bought a 90' Fox, and am thinking about painting it matte black..... Maybe all plasti dip? But I'm curious to how many cans I would need. Prolly be cheaper just to take it somewhere and have it done professionally.

Plasti Dip FTW!!!!!!

I would like to see the weight difference. I spoke to a friend of mine that does custom art on motorcycle helmets about the clear coating issues as well as my questions about weight added and he swore to me it can add as much as 100, 200 or more pounds based on his research on helmets.

I believe I saw a post saying losing 100lbs would give you a tenth in the 1/4 so I guess the added weight would have the opposite adverse effect.
