Life of a Stang

If anybody can help me. What's the average life of a 02 GT. How many miles? I have a 02 I bought at auction for good price. I had it checked out. Was told it was pristine for a car with 197K miles on it. Was really wanting a Cobra, but settled for the GT instead.

Well, I don't think anyone could tell you for sure how long an '02 GT would last. It all comes down to how well was the car maintained by its previous owner(s)? How does it feel? Does it run strong? Does it feel shaky at all? Rounding 200k for any car is a lot of miles. I say, hope for the best and plan for the worst. Also, pay attention to the motor. Sounds, vibrations, emissions, you'd be surprised to see how well you can know your car by giving it your attention. Good luck.

Welcome aboard, by the way!

If it is well maintained then you can expect alot more miles out of it!.. A buddy of mine has a '02 GT with 230,000+ miles on it and it still runs strong!.. Bit he keeps up on the maintenance on his car!..

All I can say is that I had a 1999 Chevy Tahoe thy was all original except a body lft and 33" mud tires. I rode it hard every weekend on trails and pipelines ad nothing ever broke or gave up. Finally at 234k the transfer case chain stretched and I took it out and 4wd was gone. Then at 240k got tranny rebuilt. No other problems. General maintenance only. Buddy had a 2002 Tahoe that blew 2 trannies and one engine. Had 105k miles.

It all comes down to luck and maintenance. 200kmiles is a lot for a stang, but mod motors are actually durable at stock form, they only become short-lived after being modded.

If you got it for a good price then go for it!!

Re: Life of a Stang

it ALL depends on how its taken care of in terms of upkeep and how its driven~ along with the climate and conditions its used in etc etc. Mostly though if you take care of a car it will treat you good (more than gas an oil)

I was planning on modding the whole car, but I don't want to put all the money in it just for it not to last . The clutch went out and I'm replacing it now with a stage 2 now

When I bought the car it already had BBK long tube headers, Flowmaster thunder series running dummy pipes, and a H pipe. I'm pretty sure it has after market fuel rail, but not sure. I need full suspension all the way around, but I know what I'm getting. What other mods can I do with a strip budget?
