PI Swap Q's!

Hey guys! I think I've decided to go ahead and do a PI swap. Can anyone give me some pointers? Do I need to take it to the shop? Or is there anyway me and my Pops could do it? How long does it take? How much is a ballpark price for a shop to do it? Sorry for so many questions. But thanks to all of you in advance for the help!

P.S. Is it really that big of a difference?

---------- Post added at 02:47 PM ---------- Previous post was at 02:45 PM ----------

Also, my budget is in the $1300- $1600 range. Thought I'd do the swap and a tuner.

Hmm.. That's a pretty good Hunk of change. I'll just have to see how everything looks. I just found a set of PI heads on Craigslist off of a 01 GT. He only wants 200 for them. Good buy or no?

So do I really have to port and polish them? They look like they're in really good shape. And I thought 200 was a hell of a deal.

Thats retarded! You and your dad could do it in a weekend with no problem. Its not a hard install to do. If you got all the parts together and tore into it on a friday night, you guys could be up driving around by sunday afternoon

Well that's the problem.. Lol. What all do you need?? Have you done one? They make it sound like its ridiculous to do... One shop here wouldn't even give me a price! Lol. This is something I'd love to do.. But let's be real, I'm 18. I can't swing 2k on one mod. Lol.

I've never done a PI swap but I've helped change the heads and intake and an 02 GT. but if you have a tight budget you may need to save some more

Well I mean, I'll have like $1500 when tax money gets in. Just filed them today. So I mean, I figured that would be plenty, but maybe I'm wrong. Idk.

Idk. I'm pretty much lost at what to do next. Maybe I'll stick with my original plan.. Tune, new CAI, and some 3:73s
