Re: Cheap mods
Starter mods typically include exhaust, intake, spark plugs, coils, gears, underdrive pulleys, electric fan (if you don't already have one), a tuner or custom tune, and/or a 50 to 100 shot of NOS. The question is, what sort of 'performance' are you looking for? Power? Handling whether straight line or cornering? Braking? Or a combo of the three? The cheapest quick mods are spark plugs and a cold air kit followed by underdrive pulleys. Gears are cheap to buy, but can be a bit more costly to install. Coils aren't a bad option either, I especially like MSD's coil over plug kit. A tuner is super easy, but initial cost can be a bit much (but a very nice investment that keeps on giving). Exhaust can be cheap, but I wouldn't skimp out on it, it's pretty important for how the engine runs. Finally, many people are afraid of NOS.. but the reality is they don't understand it. Most cars out there (period) can handle in stock form a 50 to a 125 shot of NOS. I would only go as high as 100 on a stock engine that has anything over 50K miles. If you have any performance mods on the engine, it may be a good idea to really consider just where you're at. Hope this helps!!
