Re: Racing chip help!!

It basically recalibrates your computer on your car to allow for a larger envelope of tolerances and changes around fuel trim, air/fuel mixture, timing and some other things. If you don't want it on there, you can always go to Ford and take out the chip, then have them re-program the computer to stock, but you'll probably lose some performance. Also, it may have that chip to recalibrate the computer for a certain mod that was added or put on the engine so that it runs smoothly. It would help to know a list of mods you have on your car. If the chip is the only thing major, you shouldn't have any problem removing it and either getting another tuner that you can use to change the ECM back to stock programming, or just take to Ford to have it done. Cost really isn't that expensive for them to re-flash your ECM, and typically only takes 15 minutes or less. Hope this helps!!

When I hooked my SCT up and did some dyno pulls, the question arose on whether the PCM was chipped. Turns out the LW simply re programs the chip, but can cause conflicts. Luckily mine was stock.

It's not installed right now but I'm guessing the guy who had it before had it in then took it out when he sold it to me.
Where can I install it?

Re: Racing chip help!!

That's a good question. I've seen videos on youtube where guys took off the passenger side kick panel, unbolted a computer box from in there somewhere, and plugged it into the back of it. I've also seen some that plug into the OBD2 port. I really couldn't tell you. I'm sure that if you went to Diablo's website and contacted them with your problem they could probably email or mail you installation instructions. They'll probably need some kind of part/serial/model number off of it though..

If its the same as mine, like stated before its behind the passenger side kick panel. Take that off, and there's a silver box in there with a port to plug it in at. But I would def YouTube it to try and find an install video.

Pulled the kick panel apart to verify stock.

Make sure to disconnect the battery terminals before you pull the ECU (PCM) connectors. Be gentle with the wiring harness, find the retaining clips and be gentle with them, although it does take some force to disconnect them, be careful.
