Adding Factory Keyless Entry

I have a 1997 Mustang GTS, it was not equipped with Alarm or Keyless Entry from the Factory or Dealer. I was wanting to know if anyone or know anyone that has done this can give me some insight of what needs to be done.

A buddy of mine has the key fob and module, however I can't get his wiring harness. 1 its a convertible, and 2 he is rebuilding the car. How far does that wiring harness go in the interior of the vehicle. Unfortunately Ford didn't equip all mustangs with those extras.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

I don't know. But have you checked into aftermarket keyless entry? My dad did that with my last truck I had it was a base model 07 silverado and I think he paid around 300 to have electric locks, siliniods, and remote all wired in. That would prolly be a lot easier than tryin to wire in a factory one. Then you got deal with the pats system. Just some food for thought my friend

Re: Adding Factory Keyless Entry

I actually have a viper alarm system, that has like 50+ wires to splice in. I would have all of the parts I would need. I work with my dad at his salvage yard. I have thought of installing the aftermarket system. I just dont really want to do that, I live in a terrible location. I dont really have anywhere I could have it installed for me. Central NC. I have read too many horror stories from Best Buy installs...

Well viper is an alarm system. They prolly sell a remote entry like factory stuff. I wouldn't go to best buy anyway. A car audio shop should be able to do it as well

Re: Adding Factory Keyless Entry

oh sorry guys, I was mistaken; What I have is a Python 460HP Alarm System. It has some age to it, however can't really afford a newer system. I have looked a little into it, and the interior harness runs all over the interior floor. More or less I am going to go aftermarket.

That would be the best and easiest way. Unless you really really want factory but it would be to much of a hassle in my opinion. Good luck call some of your larger local car audio shops and tell them what your wanting to do and they can better help you.

Re: Adding Factory Keyless Entry

I am trying to find local shops that are good at what they do, I live in a pathetic part of the state. I am emailing the ones I am finding and going from there, I hope they will install my 7 year old alarm system...

Re: Adding Factory Keyless Entry

Close to Greensboro, NC. I have found a shop that will do it for me, $100 Installed; 3-4 Install Time. Not bad I don't think...
