Exhaust Questions

Have an SLP cat back X pipe that goes to manifolds, and it has been like that since I bought the car. I want to put long tube headers on it so i get a lot better flow. Would I have to go with a shorty X pipe or would I be ok with keeping what I've got?
What do you all think?
Thanks

Re: Exhaust Questions

you're gonna need a new x-pipe. you could have you current one modified (cut an re-welded) it should be cheeper just have an exhaust shop make one for you.

if its the catted slp x-pipe then no you don't need to buy a new x-pipe.. its a modular x-pipe which means you can take the extended pipes from the cats to the headers off of the x-pipe so that u can bolt up the LT's right up to the mid pipe

Perfect I was under the car the other day and I was wrong it's not an SLP x pipe but it's SLP cat back and the x pipe is solid
What I'll prolly do is order a new x pipe and start all new from the car back exhaust foreword
I thought about throwing this idea around with getting a tubular k member
Do I have to drop the old k member to put the headers in?
Thanks for all the help guys!!

Once you find out about the K member, I would love to know what the results are. I'm definately going with long tubes, and I was also considering the tubular k member and tubular A arms with some coil overs. I was gonna go with maximum motorsports for suspention and all that, but i haven't gotten around to posting any threads yet. If anyone sees this and has advice that would help too. Lemme know how it goes!!

Re: Exhaust Questions

i know having a vert, the long tubes are a p.i.t.a.! so i opted for shorties. a buddy of mine has a vert with lt's and had to drop the k member. if ur gettin a tublar k and long tubes ... might as well do it all at once instead of dropping it twice! and if you have access to a lift, its a hell of alot easier!

That's a good point. I've never had a chance to mess with the exhaust on my car yet, let alone the suspension. I plan on tackling them soon, but from what it sounds like on here, everything is so tight that it does make sense to do it all at once. Thanks!

Everything is way tight! The mod 4.6 is almost the same size as a BB 428 lol..

You are going to need a new X-pipe. I going thru the same thing tomorrow, My existing X pipe with not work with the Long Tube Headers I'm getting put on tomorrow, so they ordered me a new X pipe that matches the Headers.

I plan on taking a few, but forgot camera this morning coming in to work, I'm heading up there after work to pick up the car, had to leave it overnight, cause it was too much stuff to do and be finish before 5PM yesterday. Because I forgot my camera, I won't be able to get any pics under the car, with the Exhaust. But will post what I do get.
