Long tubes im CA

Will long tubes pass a smog inspection as long as I have cats on? I'm planning on doing a catted X or H pipe w/ LTs and I'm wondering if in CA it will pass smog.. Any 1 feel free to chime in from CA

I've been over the C.A.R.B. list several times and haven't found any that are approved.

Re: Long tubes im CA

CA requires you have your car tested every 2 years. Almost all aftermarket performance parts must have the C.A.R.B. number on it. The number must be visible so the inspector can look up the number. Even if the part in no way is proven not to have increased smog emissions without the C.AR.B. number it is a automatic fail.Testing must be down at a Certified CA Smog Check Station. If you don’t do so you will not be able to register your car.

Like you I live in CA and know all about about buying and selling after market performance parts. It sucks do to the C.A.R.B.& emission laws. As CA driver we end up paying more money and getting less results.

Since you only have to do it once every 2 years just swap out the stock. If not find a mechanic the you know really well that does smog and get him a case a beer and your car will be magically cleared

Well I was thinking that too.. Run LTs until I have to smog it and then put the stock ones back.. But I'm not friends with any mechanics like that so it would kind of be a hassle.. I was thinking shorty headers but heard those don't really do much.. CA laws suck when it comes to automobiles

From someone who has done a LT swap, give this alot of thought. Even though its only every couple years, the intall still sucks! I know i wouldnt want to have to do it again.
