Is an a/m MAF necessary?

Been reading some other threads and I wanna know when will it become necessary to replace the MAF? I don't plan on doing a sc anytime in the foreseeable future but I do wanna add cams and N2o. Will I ever need to replace the MAF to do this?
2004 GT current mods : CAI, BBK Short throw shifter TB and UDPs, SCT x3/SF3 with BAMA Perfomance tunes Roush body kit, roush side skirt exhaust and paint.
