Bullitt?

Ok so I got my car inspected the other day and on the paper work is said it was a bullitt. I'm almost 100% sure my car was wrecked before I got it. I look at my calipers and they are PBR calipers. The trim piece on the floor just says mustang. I want to know is there any way to know if it is a bullitt?

Doesn't inspection centers use the vin to know what it is? And if so does it get that specific?

There are two holograms on the 01 Bullitt. One on the left front shock tower, and the other is under the rear seat. I hope this helps.

It's not the bullit was a gt it had more power than a gt and badge emblems on the trunk saying bullit and I think I'm not sure but a strut tower brace that said bullit also

Re: Bullitt?

Yah the Bullitt had a revised upper intake that gave it some additional hp (~5hp) but more importantly a much more aggressive torque curve...it made power much quicker than the regular 2v GT's.

I thought I heard the Bullitts had subframe connectors...maybe one of the Bullitt owners could verify whether that's true or not. If so, check under your car, see if it has them.

I think it's weird that someone would wreck a bullitt and completely de-bullitize it lol.

Unless they didn't want to spend more money on bullitt parts and just replaced them with regular GT parts...but you'd think small things like the gauge cluster, chrome door lock soldiers and strut tower markings would be left alone.

The vin claims to be one, but me personally don't think it is, all sign of the bullitt are gone so. But would be cool if it was. I'm baffled by this

The bullitt also has a different fuel door, and no spoiler. They were all five speeds I'm pritty sure. But they pritty much look identical to the gt. you should take a few pics and post them

Re: Bullitt?

They also didn't have any fog lights and had the blacked out pony corral...I see a ton of bullitts with fogs, they came prewired, but still...it takes away from the whole "bullitt" theme imo.

I'm pretty sure they had a lot of interior differences we had a blue one in our shop a while back and I wanna say the gauges were different it had pedal covers and maybe the shifter bezel were all some sort of a silver or stainless steel look to it.

Re: Bullitt?

The Bulltt Mustangs have a different intake manifold then a regular GT. Hopefully your engine looks like this one.

Re: Bullitt?

Yah so basically there are so many differences from a Bullitt to a regular GT that there has to be something still on the car if it is a true Bullitt...it's just wild that the vin claimes to be a Bullitt yet it doesn't seem like the car is one.

It makes sense to me, if the car was in a accident, it would be cheaper to throw on GT parts instead of Bullitt parts. What are your plans for your new Bullitt? Are you going to try to bring it back to spec?

Cool, have fun with the project. I posted a link that lists every single part that sets the Bullitt apart from a GT on the last page, it's a pretty long list.
