Do you have an auto or a manual? Is this a daily driver (DD)? If it's an auto, 4.10s are a good choice. If it's a manual, 3.73's work really well. If it's a DD go with the 3.73's, or if it's not 4.10's. At cruising speed of 65 MPH, you'll only notice a difference of 100 - 300 RPM higher with the 4.10s over the 3.73's. With the 4.10's you'll notice probably around a 1 - 3 MPG drop depending on how you drive, but NOTE, with 4.10's because they are so much more fun, it's typically harder to drive 'efficiently'. Personally, I'm about as close as a period on this page to getting the tuner and gear combo from AM. I'll be going with the 4.10s, but my stang is not my DD. I have a stick and NOS as well, so I should really have some fun. I had all the info put in on the website to order, all i had to do was click the button, but for some reason.. I just don't.. can't explain it yet..

About to do my taxes.. maybe once I know how much I'm getting I'll spurge.. for right now.. even though I can get them, I just keep holding back. Maybe its because I'm getting a clutch and flywheel, short throw shifter, and driveshaft as well...

Thanks for the info, much appreciate it. My car is a daily driver but i dnt drive it too far to work and back. I live like a 3/4 of mile from work so, i think i might go with the 4.10. I gota alot of ricers around that need to be put in there place and with what i have done to the motor the stock gears arent conpensating, i can tell when i drive it

Re: 3.73 or 4.10?

I just put 4.10s in my auto, still in break in so I have not gave it the beans yet. But the car is pulling less rpm on a 35-40mph zone than my 3.27s were lol. if you have a Bama tuner just change the set up and your gauge will be spot on, I think mine is closer to my true speed than before lol.

I don't know why everyone thinks highway driving with 4.10s sucks. It really isn't that bad. At 65 mph I'm turning abut 2300 rpm. Its really not that bad

Because it is really that bad!.. I'm turning 2500 doing 80mph with stock gears!... How many rpms would you be turning doing 80mph?....

If you think it's necessary to cruise at 80 maybe like 3000. I'll get you exact numbers when I check. My 4.10s will get me to 80 much quicker than the stock gear.

I had 4.10s on my old 99 gt. Highway wasn't too bad and it pulled like a beast, only problem i had was slamming through gears like crazy. 1st gear was almost useless for me. Did a wicked figure 8 after i broke them in tho!

I'd say go 3.73.

Yes we all know that 4.10s will get to 80 much quicker than the stock gear!.. My point being is that you said a couple of times how it's not that big a deal!.. About 500 rpms for a DD can be a pretty big deal!.. Especially at highway speeds!.. That is why me and several others have said that 3.73s would be a better idea for a DD!..

True but I was using that to give a rough example between the gears!.. And the jump between Stock Gears and 4.10s is pretty big!.. It's great for a weekend car, or at least not hitting the highway as much!.. But for a DD I say 3.73 is better!..

Smiles per gallon, not miles per gallon....if you want gas mileage buy a 4 banger or a hybrid!

I agree with both of you. I really have no need to cruise at 80 mph. I hit 80 today and am spinning about 3000. They are well worth it for me.

Definately a good compromise between a 3.73 and a 4.10. It's the best of both gears. Just enough to keep the RPM's a bit lower, but just enough of an edge to give you an advantage over 3.73's and not as much of a loss of fuel on the highway as 4.10's. Driveable, but still fun. I would suggest it for those who use their mustang as a DD sometimes, but also a street/weekend car as well but don't want to waste 1st gear if they've got mods.

On a side note, did you get that harness yet? I'll text you later if I haven't heard from you.. if so, did you install it and does it work just fine?
