I think I'll go with the 3.90 I talked to a guy that had 4.10s and he said he wished he got the 3.90s but you don't hear of to many people have them it's always 4.10s or 3.73s

Re: Gear help!

If its your dd I would say go for it. I run 430s in my weekend cruiser but I meant to buy 410s( wrong package). I had 373 in my old fox and they seemed like a more aggressive gear than the 430s do in my 98 gt.

Yea it's my DD I don't like the 2,000 rpms at 65mph I think the 3.90 is the way to go for a DD mustang

Oh K Twisted!!!! We want your opinion!!!
Here I am!!! Just posted this exact paragraph on another thread:

Definately a good compromise between a 3.73 and a 4.10. It's the best of both gears. Just enough to keep the RPM's a bit lower, but just enough of an edge to give you an advantage over 3.73's and not as much of a loss of fuel on the highway as 4.10's. Driveable, but still fun. I would suggest it for those who use their mustang as a DD sometimes, but also a street/weekend car as well but don't want to waste 1st gear if they've got mods.

3.90's aren't as well known though, so be prepared to get funny looks when you tell people about them. Enjoy the attention!!

Re: Gear help!

I guess it's because they are not a common gear (3.90) choice. You don't hear about people using them, just like you don't hear of people using the 4.30s often.

Yea, I've heard this alot too, in fact I've heard that you should go strictly with FRPP on the gears

Run the FRPP gear set and while your in there replace the clutch packs with the FRPP carbon fiber clutch pack kit. I also recommend royal purple gear fluid great for a dd and weekend warrior set up.

Can't beat FRPP. Amsoil also makes really good synthetic lubricants for anything on your car. A little more pricey though..

Thank you everyone for the feed back, I still have no idea what I wanna go with I don't run to much highway miles but when I do I like running around 80 with the 4.10s I would be turning like 3,000-3,500 rpm and I don't really like that and with the 3.90 I don't want any problems out of them I may just go with the 3.73

With 4.10s you should be running closer to 3,000 at 80mph not 3,500!.. A buddy of mine has 4.30s in his Cobra (think it's a '98), and he is turning closer to 3,500 at 80mph!..

---------- Post added at 09:08 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:06 PM ----------

Ment to say I think his Cobra is a '98!.. Lol

My wife went into labor this morning so which car should we take? The mustang of course. I had a reason to drive 100 mph and was spinning about 3500. Went about 30 miles between 90-100 on the interstate and car did great. Oh, wife is fine too haha. Made it to the hospital in about 15 min.

At 80mph my 4.10s put me right at 2.5-2.6k... Honestly it's only like 300rpm more than stock 3.27s at 80mph. I don't see why everyone freaks out so much. When I cruise 90 in a line of cars on the interstate I turn 2.9-3k.

Tr3650 is the stock manual transmission that comes with late 2001-2004 GTs. I don't know why your friend's RPMs are so high. Check my signature and it links you to a video showing my rpm.
