Egr question?

I'm changing my headers to jba shorties and I realized that where the egr tube connects is different than stock. Any ideas on what to do. I was thinking of buying a deep 27mm socket for my impact and use an open end wrench to hold the upper part to take the bottome off. Would that work?? Please let me know??
