spring install

Just waiting on my steeda springs but I was wondering, Are they something a backyard mechanic can do at home? Is it very time consuming, and are there any special tools I will need? Just finished putting on my off road h pipe and love the sound. So much less drone than the off road x pipe. Plus it really turns heads.

I forgot to ask, Do I have to have camber caster plates? Ran out of money so I couldn't get them.

It's an afternoon job for sure. You'll need some spring compressors Goethe stock ones and that should be it. The plates aren't necessary but you'll eat through tires faster

I have taken my suspension apart countless times.. I can take down and put together the whole front suspension in about an hour... It's freakin easy. Don't worry. Be ready for some sticking bolts in the rear shocks. U have to hammer them out. CC plates are usually necessary for proper alignment. How much are these springs supposed to lower?

Re: spring install

Yah our mustang's suspension is fairly simple when you break it down. It seems complicated and intimidating since there's multiple parts all correlating to each other.

The hardest part is decompressing the spring, don't want a spring full of energy launching at you. Other than that and maybe some stubborn bolts it's not too bad.

This article helped me out a bit:

Ya man I really liked that video, I knew was gonna be easy, but he made it look 10! Times easier... I even like how he showed the right way to turn the springs and everything...

Re: spring install

The springs are going to lower the car 1.5 inches. Hope that gets the stance just right.

Re: spring install

I've tore 99-04 suspension apart so often that I can have everything apart and off the car in like 45 mins. The biggest thing I can say is work on the car when it's cooled off, and also shoot PB blaster on all the bolts and allow it to penetrate for a few minutes. You'll thank yourself later.
