Whats done to your Gt? And whats done to his GTO?

---------- Post added at 01:39 AM ---------- Previous post was at 01:35 AM ----------

Does anyone know if a dipstick from an 01-04 Gt will fit a 99 Gt? I called FORD and they are saying that they are different part numbers cuz of (romeo/windsor) which i get, but wouldnt the dipsticks be the same?

The one for my car is like $58 and the one for the 01-04 is only like $25..i really dont get why they are priced different.

Your friend must not be able to drive for crap... Those GTOs are mean cars and with that mod list the LS2 GTO would be over 400 hp. Even the LS1 version would be near or over 350hp. I raced a GTO with heads, LT's and a stage 2 cam and he spanked me pretty good and I have a vortech...

I raced against a couple of GTO's before and beat one of them!.. Of course the one I beat was my Brother-n-laws and it was a '69!.. Lol. The other one was a 2008 I believe, it was modded out with a KB sitting on top!.. Ya, to say that I didn't stand a chance in he'll would be a huge understatement!..

I have stock gears, but gearing isnt the issue. I have raced countless people since the charger went on and i can tell you, an LS2 GTO with those mods will spank 9 out 10 GTs on this forum. That car was pushing over 400 at the wheels.

My power is going to the ground just fine. Raced from 40-120 and never spun the first time, never missed a shift, and never lifted. He just beat me.

Gearing is part of the issue, without gears your are missing so much acceleration, gotta give it a set of balls.

They aren't that heavy. They only out weigh our cars by 300 or so pounds. And yes I know gearing helps with acceleration. But you have gears, I have a blower. I believe blower wins lol gears are not my issue

In the performance/race world, anything over 3000 lbs. is considered a "heavy fat a$$". To get all that weight rolling, you need torque. Gears are torque amplification. HP is needed to keep a car rolling and at high speeds. IMO, HP wars are stupid. Having a high HP number really counts for nothing if you have no reason for it or don't know what to do with it. I've seen 450 HP Terminators running against a 383 CID '71 roadrunner making only 305 HP and get blown away by the heavier car with less power simply due to the fact that the roadrunner had slicks, a posi, and steep gears. IMO HP ratings are to fill one's ego and get "bragging rights".

KT always has the facts correct and in some nice language as well.

Thanks for posting KT!

Fwiw a 2005 GTO ls2 is 4.5 0-60 12.8 quarter.

Certainly not unbeatable.

Hey your welcome!! I often times find myself being too forward with what I post after reading them sometimes (aggressive) and I'm really not trying to be. I'm just really passionate about performance engineering. I don't mean to sound argumentative or 'in your face' if I ever come off like that. I just try to put the facts on the table and walk away and do it in a way that is clearly understandable by people who are new to getting acquainted with their engine. Sometimes people on here (I've found) seem to think they're the only ones who have the knowledge and when you come along and say something different they get really mad. No one from this post.. I mean other posts I've seen. I hope what I share really helps people and I offer my knowledge to whoever wants it. Take care all!

Lol I feel the same way man. And I completely agree with what your saying. 800hp means nothing with 100ft/lbs of torque. I'm just stating that in my personal situation gears were not why I got beat. I got beat because the other car was plain fast. I have high torque numbers to back up the horsepower and although I didn't spin at that time, if I had a set of gears as well I would blow my current tires off. We're on the same side just from two different points of view

Im not saying that im glad you got beat..so dont take what im gona say that way. But its nice to hear some be straight up about being beat, no excuses. You just plain and simple got beat. Not many people will do that, they will write a book of excuses before they will admit they just raced a car faster than theirs and they lost. Its nice to see someone be honest.

And now you need some gears and better tires..and race him again
Lol
