What type of oil?

What kind of oil is best to use in my 99 gt, also which brand do you prefer! I use mobile one but is 5w 30 the best thing to use or should I be using something else?

Re: What type of oil?

IMO honestly as long is it's a synthetic you should be good and use the manufacturer's recommended weight. Personally, I will never use anything but Amsoil. Their signature series is top of the line. I use them for every type of lube/fluid in my car.

Our cars say to take 5w20 but I'd use 5w20 if your under 75K-80K then I'd use 5w30. I use 5w30 in mine and it's at 79k but if you switch to the 5w30 you have to keep using it.

And always always go synthetic, did I mention always? It's so much better for the engine

Re: What type of oil?

Amsoil extended interval 5w30. Amazing stuff and totally worth it. I'll never use anything but Amsoil.

I run the 5w30 amsoil and filter. Well worth the money plus I get a discount off of a guy I work with whom is sponsored and a distributor for amsoil

Full synthetic 5w30 - Mobile 1 and RP are good but if you can go with Amsoil w/ Amsoil filter that would be your best bet.

It depends on who you ask. Some people like RP some like amsoil. Ive even read where people prefer Mobile 1. After reading through endless threads on multiple forums more people prefer Amsoil over anything else.

Thats what im going with and ive used mobile one for a long time.

I have talked with a lot of mechanics about this I was told to run castrol 5-30 high mileage unless I have ran a full synthetic for the life of the car

You can start running full synthetics at any point!.. Keep in mind that most mechanics recommend what they sell!...

I've been told castrol is great stuff only bad thing about it is once you switch to it you should never switch to another. It can fight against other oils. I've heard this from many mechanics. I just use motorcraft 5w20 synthetic can't hurt using factory stuff.
