suspension questions

i have a 98 gt and the previous owner decided to cheap out when lowering the car and just heated the springs. needless to say it rides like **** now. so my question is, should i just get a complete 98 cobra suspension for it, or go on and go all aftermarket? thanks

Re: suspension questions

go with better springs, H&R or some other progressive rate for sure. If you want a stock like ride (aka wont handle as good) eibach makes a softer progressive rate spring

you will need CC plates for alignment and probably time to replace shocks/struts (mach 1 tokicos work good)

Re: suspension questions

I would look into maximum motorsports lower control arms (spherical bushing, good design) and for the uppers keep factory~ they can cause bind if you go aftermarket. The 98 cobras had stiffer rubber bushings but the upper arm itself is the same so that would work good

the sway bar may be thicker, can check if so get it.

H&R race are the ones I was talking about, my rate is like 760front vs stock 450~

Re: suspension questions

with suspension you can go REALLY far or just do a few choice items that really help the overall ride.

If you go to hard core the ride will suffer to much and it will be a horrible ride. You need to decide if you want a good ride or not so good ride but it handles well~ overall it wont be THAT bad if you go with progressive springs and good shocks/struts just an FYI though.

these mods can be done in your driveway with a friends help over a weekend of quicker as well FYI

Re: suspension questions

I have no idea why anyone would heat up a spring vs just cut a coil off it.... just lazy

There is a guy on www.corral.net that has some for sale for 100. His name is 1fast99gt I believe. They are in the classifieds. He even cut the rears to even it out a little more. They look good from the pics.

What type of shocks/strut will have the power to arrest that spring rate? I ended up going Eibach pro shocks after I found out KYB couldn't handle the rate of the Eibach spring. BTW I have a vert GT. I hate rail road tracks.
