01 GT Horn Relay

I have seen alot of threads about horns and even some involving talk about the relay for the horn circuit, but no answer on where the horn relay is. I thought it would be in the fuse/relay box under the hood but looked at the manual and only the horn fuse is there. Looked under/behind the dash and didnt really see anything that looked like a relay. anyone know where the horn relay is?

Re: 01 GT Horn Relay

The only thing i could find there was an "owner's guide". I downloaded it and it looks like the same thing that came with the car, no mention of the horn relay.

Re: 01 GT Horn Relay

the horn itself is on the drivers side under the fender if my memory is good~ it may be there~ you can take the inner fender out and get to the horn. I would research a bit more though or get a repair manual.

Re: 01 GT Horn Relay

I'm not 100% on this but this is what I came up with. I circled the areas of interest in the picture. I think C2077 is the relay and P98 is where it is located.

Re: 01 GT Horn Relay

I got in the car. under the drivers side dash and cant seem to match up that picture with anything under there? Is that picture for an 01? I looked and looked while I was under there and didnt see anything that resembled a relay.

Re: 01 GT Horn Relay

Ok I just went out and looked at my car. Mine is an 02 but I think it's the same. If you look at the fuse box there is a relay box attached to it. It is closer to the firewall. It is covered by a black plastic cover. In that box are 4 relays which correspond with the right side of the diagram I provided. Assuming that part of the diagram is right one of those relays is the horn. I agree with you the other part of the diagram doesn't seem to match up to reality very well. Let me know how you make out.

Re: 01 GT Horn Relay

as soon as i looked at it i felt like a ******, but anyway I found it, thanks for the help, but...the relay seems to work, I can hear it clicking anyway (as long as the fuse is in, doesnt do anything with out the fuse) but when I measure the voltage at the fuse, it doesnt change at all, always 12V. When I pull the fuse and measure each side to ground, the side towards the front of the car is 12V and the side towards the inside of the car is 0. Anyone have any input on this or ideas on what I should see? I would have thought that the horn was grounded and the relay supplied it (through the fuse) with either nothing or 12V to sound the horn. Any Ideas on how I could connect something to the horn fuse outlet to force the horn voltage to be in the on state to see if the horn works. Maybe the relay is supposed to pull the 12V to ground to sound or leave it floating in the off state, I have no idea, I dont want to think about the relay working just suddenly not being wired right? damn this seemingly simple thing is turning out to be a big pain in the ***. Any help here would be greatly appreciated.
