stock 02 gt cia

I've got a stock 02 gt and I'm wondering what improvements a cold air intake will make.

Re: stock 02 gt cia

with just the CAI not very much overall~ just a bit and may not even be noticeable. It may sound a bit louder overall though~

Re: stock 02 gt cia

I did not feel it with just the CAI change but you can hear the engine is getting more air and it just sounds like it makes the over all car deeper. (under the hood and exhaust)

Re: stock 02 gt cia

I wouldnt invest in a CAI. Ive been doing A LOT of research on these cars the last few weeks and from what I read the intake is just as good as any aftermarket intake. Ford did a great job with these. Dont waste your money. The best thing you can do is get a K&N drop in filter. That will get you the same results for less than half the price.

If you want to increase HP via modding your intake situation start with the TB/Plenum. That was the weak point in the intake system on our cars.

Exhaust before intake! Your motor must be able to flow out that air before it does you any good

I've read that too. How does it affect mpg going bigger and any specific brands?

Re: stock 02 gt cia

Ill be honest with you, your not gonna notice any real difference in economy. The fact is you have V8 motor that eats gas. You might be looking at a 1 or 2 MPG difference but thats probably about it. (again, this is just my opinion based on experience, someone else may tell you different) Youll notice more by changing your driving habits and such.

As far as brands go Ive heard a lot of good things about accufab. I read somewhere that 2 mustangs were dyno'd before and after the same mods. Both got TB/Plenum. One went with BBK and another went with accufab and both had the same exact results. Moral of the story is your gonna get the same results from just about anything you put on unless the product is a complete piece of garbage.

Like itbwas stated before it depends a lot on supporting mods. I have heard 11-15 but realistically its less than that, especially without a tune.

The idea of intake is to make the engine breath better. If you can suck air in but not blow it out its pointless. Its a good start but id also work on exhaust. I have a Mac catback and Mac x pipe prochamber. I love it. Ill be getting long tube headers from Mac very soon.

Don't waste your money on a cia. It can be put to better use on a stock GT. I definitely recommend saving up for exhaust

I don't know much but if I'm getting more air wouldn't I need more fuel? would I have to time it when I put tb/plenum on?

Ok, so if I do tb/plenum I don't have to tune it? But I would get the max out of it if I did.

Re: stock 02 gt cia

Of course. A tune will always be beneficial to any mod you do. Even a tune with a stock set up will increase performance. I highly recommend it.

And your car will put out enough fuel with simple mods. Its when you get into massive HP gains that you will need to upgrade a fuel system. Yours is more than sufficient for these mods.

My plan is to do tb/plenum, xpipe with flowmasters, and tune. My stang should be pretty bad *** after that!

That will put a lot of life into it. Youll love it. You should also look into gears. Do a little searching around. No HP gains but it will feel like an entirely different car. Im going FI with 3.73's. I cant wait.

Keep up the good work tho. Its good to see ppl loving their cars.
