lower temp thermostats?

wanted to slightly lower my engines op temp... see on net that lower temps can somewhat affect economy/emissions etc

anyone know if it's really cool(pun intended) to go from 195 to 180 degree thermostat, and no adverse problems. thx-
joe

p.s live in the northeast, so will probably just use it from now thru october
