Get some gears, a tuner, a CAI, an exhaust, and if you can drive, you should see some better times

I would start with buying the tuner first, yes its expensive, but it allows you to tune every mod you buy for you car and get the full potential out of it. Then get the gears for better acceleration.

No, it will be a little higher RPM but not "horrible". Some of the guys here run 4.10's and can tell you what RPMs they run at interstate speeds.

I just finished pi swap on my 96 gt 5spd. I ran a 14.6 stock and it has a heck of alot more power now. For the swap, you need H/C/I with, head gaskets, head bolts, intake gaskets etc. then its easy from there. There are write ups all over the net. And I did it by myself.

Did you need to request a new tune for your setup or did they have pre-made setups for you to use?

No tune yet. Runs perfect with good compression at all cylinders. I am trying to decide if I want Bama Pi tune and do some data logging with them to dial it in, or Jo at trick tuners and do the data logging.

---------- Post added at 07:18 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:17 PM ----------

They do make a canned pi swap tune from bama, but I doubt it will be enough without sending them some data logs.

Dude who owned my car put 3.73 gears in and had it tuned. I don't know if he went somewhere or did it with a handheld. After tooling through many of the threads on this forum, it seems like I should consider getting a handheld is a must, especially it your going beyond CA kits and cat back. I guess I better save up.

A handheld is def a good investment and a must have if you plan on doing much with the car.

Wow really??? Is that how that works??? Oh except for when you are city driving and it gets you into the power band faster and you can cruise city streets in 5th gear...and the higher rpms is not that much higher...and neither is the gas consumption...yes it is more but not a lot. He was being serious not a smartass view the thread in my sig.

You already have more power then traction.
Good tires, good clutch, upper and lower control arms and aluminum driveshaft maybe some sub frames if you plan on serious power. HCI etc etc you won't get the most out of any of those power bolt ons with stock suspension parts.

I'm gonna go with heads/cam/intake. Although I think the cam might be something else but it's all I can think of with a c right now.

That's what my '92 GT had. I can tell a big difference in city driving with my Mach w/3.73's. It's more difficult to keep it from being jerky compared to the '92. But, I'm happy with 3.73 and feel like its the perfect compromise.

Are you asking what it means? 02 GTVert got it right. If you're asking what it's off of then it's off a 99-04 GT

I was not being a smartass. I've been running 4.10s in my '02 GT for over a year and I'd do it again. My city mileage is either un-affected or increased, and HWY mpg has a minimal decrease. Check my signature for a link(WITH VIDEO) of a discussion on the jump from 3.27 to 4.10. There is a lot of discussion about it.

I always say 4.10s are a great choice. And I always will. They are amazing. And if you disagree then back you claims up with something else than just an opinion. You shouldn't try to sway a thread just because you don't approve. And you definitely should not call me anything other than my name. Thanks.

I'm sure multiple people would agree with me. and one sentence is hardly an attempt at swaying a thread. and your previous comment was a bit of a smartass one, i simply pointed it out.
